Living is easy with eyes closed...

I had a dream last night in which my best friend Taylor Tehan and I met up with the Kurtens (Jason and Jena) to make a trade with another family that went to the church. In the dream the Kurtens were the middle man and the church family wanted to trade their two kids (infant and 4 year old) for our Timbuk2 messenger bags. The trade was made during a choir concert at the church and Taylor got the infant and I got the 4 year old kid. At this point Taylor left the dream and I was stuck with the kid. I brought it home and he was getting all dirty and bringing mud into the house. Drew Cavin and I taught him how to take off his shoes so that no mud got on the carpet. Mentally I was fighting the thought of why I have this kid and how my life is changing every second. I can't do things like workout or drink coffee and on top of all that what does the kid think about me? Does he miss his parents? .... I don't have time for this... I don't want a kid right now...
When I woke up it was 6:20am and Drew was coming into my room to go to CrossFit. I rolled over and smiled because it was a dream and I was about to go workout. No kid was crying saying, "what about me?" and my life seemed simple. My Timbuk2 bag was right where I left it and there was no mud on the carpet.
John Lennon wrote... "Living is easy with eyes closed. Misunderstanding all you see." in the song Strawberry Fields Forever. Charlie on LOST has this tattooed on his left shoulder. Dreams are weird and scary. 4 8 15 16 23 42

Am I ready to have a kid? I'm ready to marry Jordan and have a family with her!! I'm not ready to give up my Timbuk2 bag.

Fasting-Day Two

This morning I have an amazing amount of energy and spunk. I haven't felt hungry and during CrossFit today I felt really strong. Fasting has brought a sense of clarity to my conversations and my relationship with Jordan. Yesterday we had to put down our baby kitten at the Vet. We cried and talked and affirmed to one another that life together is hard and fulfilling in more ways than we ever imagined!!

"Team Burdette" = Alan,Rachael,Isiah(6 mo) and Jerusha(2 1/2) have been staying with us and it has been such a treat to see them. Drew and Jenny are so loved and encouraged by them. This has been great to see!!!

Fasting-Day One

Last night in the car with JoJo we talked about what it was to fast. We talked about the spiritual aspects and the health aspects and the communal aspects... we talked about when we use to fast at "The Treehouse" and what it did to us as a couple. Fasting brought us together with one focus. We prayed, talked, complained and then ate together. I read a book called,"The Spirit of the Disciplines" by Dallas Willard and learned about the deepness and freedom that comes from fasting.

Last night after Jordan and I ate dinner I started my fast. I will continue the fast until Wednesday night. I will break the fast with Jordan and comm group. It will be a total of 48 hours where I will only drink water and some juices such as beets, carrots, apples, and tomatoes. The juices are for the health benefits that come from a fast.

30 pound Dumbbell thrusters (31)

Back in the swing of things...

This morning I woke up and felt good. Almost back to 100%, but still not ready to go full force again. At CrossFit I worked on Snatch and Clean & Jerk Technique. I really need to loosen up my traps and fully stretch my back before lifting.

I still need work on moving under the bar faster! and having a more solid/stronger landing.

Yesterday, Today, Today...

Yesterday was a good day. At CrossFit I worked my flexibility in my shoulders which has been giving me some trouble in my O-lifts. I also haven't been feeling up to par since the weekend with Rusty. My body is still trying to get rid of toxins and I need more rest.

The TATTOO!!! -- at two o'clock I traveled back to Arsenal Tattoo where Jesse Gordan put new ink on my left Trap using Jordan's handwriting. #5 and I already have #6!!!!

I am taking a rest day today and really working on my flexibility with stretching and some yoga poses.

Weekend Update...

Well... Rusty Cooper is married. The added bonus is that he did get somewhat of a bachelor's party on Friday night, which included much fun and drink with the old college gang! (Leanne, Jorge, Drew and myself) plus some friends from Rusty's river days. We ate and drank and danced and drove and drove and drove... Drew and I drove 15hrs. one way to the wedding and ate fast food for every meal. Today was rough with the workout and I almost passed out!!

Jordan is now permanently in College Station, TX and our life as distant is now over!!! She started her new job today as the WIC Nutritionist. The day was tiring and full of meetings, but she got a great Pre-Husband foot rub and good night kiss. I can't wait for tomorrow!!!!
